Despacito is a 2017 song released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the most popular streamed song worldwide within just the space of six months. A mix between reggaeton and pop music was released in 2017 by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee. The track became the most-streamed at that period within a span of 6 months. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish mostly, and four tracks in 2016. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017 however 19 mostly Spanish tracks made the top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 such songs. Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito was released in 2017. Then, numerous popular artists started collaborating with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018), and Madonna worked with Maluma to create Medellin. A few performers of reggaeton lamented the trend towards mainstream music in the year 2020. But a newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the evolution and development of reggaeton. The genre often included elements of electronic dance music as well as other styles.
