Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and a singer. She is also co-starring in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain. Most famously, she is known for her role in Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain as well as being the lead vocalist of Apollonia 6, a girl group. It was among the many female artists that benefited of Prince's involvement throughout the 1980s. She was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her work started as a model and actress by the end of the '70s including an appearance in the television series CHiPS. The year 1984 saw her selected for the role of the principal female lead in Prince's Purple Rain. During that time he changed his name. She also replaced Vanity as well as the group Vanity 6 in the film. Apollonia released her first album in 1988, but it was a fairly pedestrian collection of R&B/dance music that failed to draw attention from the people. The album was quickly wiped completely from the public's view. The following decade saw she continued to be active as an actress (if somewhat under the radar) and also in a few television roles, films and even an exercise film. In 1997, Apollonia released a Spanish/English album entitled Stay with me. After getting back to university and earning an award for filmmaking, she started her own production company. Apollonia Kotero is a multi-faceted person. She was an actress, singer, and model. Purple Rain, the 1984 movie in which she starred was her most well-known performance. Apart from Purple Rain, she's appeared in other TV films, including Black Magic Woman or The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She competed in many contests.
